Fair Lawn's 8th Annual Bicycle Rodeo is Saturday, May 5, 2007 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Memorial Middle School

Chief of Police Erik Rose announced that the Fair Lawn Police Department in cooperation with the State Farm Insurance Company, the Fair Lawn Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention and the Fair Lawn Board of Education will be conducting a bicycle rodeo for children between Kindergarten and the eight grade at Memorial Middle School in the rear parking lot on May 5, 2007, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Bicycle registration and stamping will be available. Bicycle helmets will also be available from the Fair Lawn Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention at a reduced cost of $10. Those who are interested in purchasing bicycle helmets are urged to pre-order them by contacting the Fair Lawn Health Department , 8-01 Fair Lawn Ave. (201) 794-5327.

A course manned by volunteers from State Farm Insurance will feature several stations that focus on steering, braking, and stopping, as well as other safety maneuvers.

The bicycle rodeo course is provided free of charge to residents. Bicycle registration is provided at a cost of $5 per bicycle.

All participants in the Rodeo, regardless of age, must wear an approved bicycle helmet.

BICYCLE HELMETS

Since safety is a primary concern for our children, we are offering quality CPSC APPROVED bicycle helmets with a premium turn ring fitting system at substantial savings of $10 each. Please review the order form, fill out the necessary information, and return it with your check by mail to FLASAP c/o Fair Lawn Health Dept., Room 112, 8-01 Fair Lawn Ave., Fair Lawn, NJ 07410. Cash orders can be received in person at Room 112, during normal business hours, 8:30AM - 4:30PM, M-F. All orders received prior to April 23 and processed will be available for pick up at the Health Dept., Room 112. Orders not picked up at the Health Dept. by May 3, 2007 will be available for pick up at the Bike Rodeo on May 5, 2007.
