Detective Derek Bastinck

Current Assignment: 6th grade D.A.R.E. at Thomas Jefferson Middle School 

     Sgt. Bastinck has been a Fair Lawn Police Officer since 1990 and a D.A.R.E. officer for ten years.  Sgt. Bastinck has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Ramapo College. In his spare time, he coaches basketball and baseball. He also serves on the Fair Lawn Police Honor Guard, the Bicycle Unit, and Motorcycle Squad. He is a Chemical Agent Officer for the Bergen County Rapid Deployment Force. Before joining the Fair Lawn Police Department, he played minor league baseball for the Detroit Tigers and the New York Mets.  He currently serves as the department’s Community Policing and Traffic supervisor.
