Q. How can I apply
to be a police officer with the Fair Lawn Police Department?
A. There are two
ways perspective officers can apply for a position with the Fair Lawn
Police Department.
First, for
currently working, New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC) certified, sworn police officers,
working under the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (CSC)
regulations, the
Fair Lawn Police Department participates in the
New
Jersey Intergovernmental Transfer Program. There is
a minimum requirement of at
least one year of satisfactory service in a New Jersey civil
service municipality or county to be eligible to
transfer.
Interested candidates should forward a cover letter and
resume to:
Joanne Kwasniewski, Acting Borough Manager
Borough of Fair Lawn
8 - 01 Fair Lawn Avenue.
Fair Lawn, New Jersey 07410
For non-certified
PTC individuals, The Fair Lawn Police Department hires under the rules and regulations of the
New Jersey Civil Service Commission (CSC).
A candidate list will be generated from those that pass the Law Enforcement
Examination.
Examinations for entry-level law
enforcement positions are announced
by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. One application may be used
for many entry-level titles. Those who pass the exam
will remain in the eligible pool for two
years.
The most recent Law Enforcement Exam
was announced on
June 1, 2010, with an anticipated test date of Fall
2010.
Fair Lawn Police Chief Erik Rose
announces that a very limited number of
applications for the New Jersey Department of Personnel "Law Enforcement Examination" are available at Fair Lawn Police
Headquarters. The pool of eligible candidates that result from this list
may be used to fill vacant law enforcement jobs in the Borough. The list will be valid for
two years. Applications are sent directly to the New Jersey Department of Personnel and
must be postmarked by
August 31, 2010.
Applications for the "LEE" are also available
