Officers Mark Wyka and Kenneth Cavanagh were conducting Cops in Shops operation on River Road when they observed an individual purchasing alcohol who appeared to be too young to do so. As the individual exited the store with his purchase, he was stopped by the officers who requested ID. The individual handed the officers a New York drivers license, which was fake. The 17-year-old male from New York was charged with possession of alcohol and tampering with public records. He was released to his father. |

03/17/07 DWI Arrest - Officers Sean Macys and James Krizek were conducting Cops in Shops operation and observed George R. Schaffer, a 44 year old male from Elmwood Park, attempting to operate a vehicle while under the influence. Mr. Scahaffer had stopped at Shop Rite Liquors on Broadway and was visibly impaired as he attempted to drive his vehicle. Mr. Schaffer was arrested and brought back to Police Headquarters and later charged with driving under the influence, driving while suspended, unregistered vehicle and no liability insurance. |

A 19-year-old male from Ridgewood was charged with under age possession of alcohol. The 19 year old was spotted by Det David Boone and P.O. Luis Vasquez attempting to purchase alcohol in a business in Fair Lawn. He was taken into Police headquarters, processed charged and later released. Another 19-year-old male from Fair Lawn was also charged with attempting to purchase alcohol while being under the legal drinking age. The 19 year old was spotted by P.O. Mark Wyka and P.O. Paul Donohue using a fake I.D. attempting to purchase. He was additionally charged with possessing a fake Bergen County Identification card. Finally a 36-year-old male from Paterson was charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia and Hindering Apprehension when he lied about his identification. Det David Boone and P.O. Luis Vasquez noticed the man acting suspicious by an alcohol establishment. Investigation revealed Drug paraphernalia as well as outstanding warrants from Paterson. |

4/28/06 9:33 pm - Officer Luis Vasquez and Lt. Robert Kneer working under cover witnessed a 41 year old male and 24 year old male purchase alcohol from PM Liquors on Maple Ave. Upon leaving the liquor store officers witnessed the driver and passenger drinking alcohol as they left the parking lot at a high rate of speed. Lt. Kneer and Officer Vasquez detained the vehicle on Rt. 208 North. During the motor vehicle stop Lt. Kneer determined that the driver, Edward Umberto 41 year old male from Warwick NY was under the influence of alcohol. During the stop Officer Vasquez determined that the passenger, Thomas Lipuma, 24-year-old male from Greenwood Lake NY was also under the influence and also in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both parties were later transported back to Police Headquarters for processing and charges. Edward Umberto the driver was charged with D.W.I., speeding, and open alcoholic beverage in a vehicle. Thomas Lipuma was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe |

5/06/06 7:50 pm- Emily Martyn, 19-year-old female from Glen Rock was arrested and charged with purchasing alcohol under the legal age and possessing a fake I.D. On 5-06-06 Officers James Krizek and Paul Scott were conducting under cover surveillance of a liquor store on Maple Ave. The officers witnessed what appeared to be an under age female purchase 2- thirty packs of beer from the local establishment. Miss. Martyn was later stopped on Maple Ave were her age of 19 was confirmed. Further investigation revealed that Miss. Martyn was in possession of a fraudulent New York driver’s license. Emily Martin was charged with under age possession of alcohol, and purchasing alcohol under age at Fair Lawn Police Headquarters. |

5/12/06 10:03 pm- Sgt. Derek Bastinck and Officer Timothy O’Shaughnessy were working Cops in Shops surveillance at a local liquor store. During the surveillance Officer O’Shaughnessy witnessed two under age males come into the store and attempt to buy alcohol. Sgt Derek Bastinck and Officer O’Shaughnessy then detained and arrested Cassin Conor, 19-year-old male and Justin Bronner, 19-year-old male both from Glen Rock N.J. Cassin Conor was also charged with possessing a fraudulent Drivers License from Delaware. Both actors were transported to Fair Lawn Police Headquarters and charged. |
