THE PATCH COLLECTION

This was Fair Lawn's first police patch circa 1930. This patch has a black or dark navy blue felt type background and the letters and edge border are embroidered in yellow. The patch measures 3 1/4 " wide (at the widest point) and is 4 1/4" high. |

This was Fair Lawn's second police patch. Though the colors did not scan that well, the patch has a dark green background with gold writing. The actual size of the patch is 3" in diameter. The patch used for this scan is one of the last known original Fair Lawn patches. |

This patch had been issued to the school crossing guards. It was discontinued in the 1970's. The patch measures 3 3/4" square. |

This patch had been issued to the members of the rifle club that was sponsored by the Fair Lawn Police Department and Fair Lawn P.B.A. #67. The patch measures 4" at the widest part by 5 1/2" long. The rifle club has been disbanded for many years. |

This was Fair Lawn's third patch. The patch is cloth with embroidery. This patch went on a gray and black uniform starting around 1971. This patch is 3 3/4" wide by 4" high. The background was yellow. |

This was Fair Lawn's fourth police patch. This patch is very similar to patch #3 with the big difference being that this patch is entirely embroidered. The background of this patch is more of an orange color. This patch went on a gray and black uniform. This patch is 3 3/4" wide by 4" high and was used until March, 1993. |

This is Fair Lawn's 5th police patch. It is 3 1/2" wide and 4 3/4" high and also went on a gray and black uniform. The background of this patch is black cloth and everything else on the patch is embroidered. This patch was in service from March 1993 to December 31,1999. |

The new Fair Lawn Police Department patch was introduced January 1, 2000, when the Departments' new uniforms were issued. The patch is 4 1/2" wide and 5" high and has a solid navy blue background. It was designed by Detective Sergeant Robert Kneer with assistance from P.O. Steve Cannizzaro. |

This is the new collar insignia for patrol officers, was introduced January 1, 2000, when the Departments' new uniforms were issued. This small patch is only 2" tall and 1 1/2" wide at its widest point. Prior to these, patrol officers wore metal F.L.P.D. 's on their collar. Lieutenants, Captains, and the Chief of Police continue to wear metal rank insignia on their collars. |

Honor Guard patch was designed by P.O. Steve Cannizzaro and Lt. Robert Kneer in 2001. In front of the police officer's memorial badge are
three flags: the NJ State flag, the flag of the United States, and
the Police Officer's Memorial flag. Unfortunately, this patch is NOT available for trading. |

Police Explorer Post #902 patch was designed by P.O. Steve Cannizzaro
in early 2005. Similar in design to the Fair Lawn Police Department
patch, it will be worn by those who participate in our Police

Police 75th Anniversary patch is a replica of one of the early
department patches. Unfortunately, this patch is NOT available for trading. |
The Fair Lawn Police Department had also issued four patches to be worn by the Emergency Response Team (ERT). The ERT patches are not available for trading!! All ERT patches are 4 1/4 inches at the widest point and are 5 inches high. The ERT patches also were designed by Lt. Robert Kneer and were the underlying idea for the new Fair Lawn Police patch that was put into service January 1, 2000. |
