The Fair Lawn Police Department is proud to participate in the "Torch Run for the Special Olympics".  In early June each year, officers from the Fair Lawn Police Department shed their uniforms for running attire and run the approximate 4 mile Torch Run route, raising needed funding for the "New Jersey Special Olympics".

The Fair Lawn officers picked up the torch from the Glen Rock Police Department on Maple Avenue by Harristown Road.  The torch was carried by Fair Lawn officers down Maple Avenue to River Road and south on River Road to Chittenden Road, where it was turned over to the Elmwood Park Police Department.

Elmwood Park Police carried the torch through Elmwood Park, eventually meeting up with the Fair Lawn officers again on Broadway by 17th Street. From there, Fair Lawn officers carried the torch east on Broadway, stopping briefly for a picture with the cheering children on the front lawn of Warren Point Elementary School, then continuing east on Broadway, handing the torch off to the Paramus Police at Broadway by Saddle River Road, where it continued it's journey through Bergen County.

The Fair Lawn officers volunteered their time for this worthy cause.  If you would like to support the Fair Lawn Police Department's Torch Run for Special Olympics, please contact Captain Joseph Cook or Sgt. Derek Bastinck at the Fair Lawn Police Department at 201-796-1400.
