The
Fair Lawn Police Department in cooperation with the NJ
Division of Motor Vehicles conducts "Motor Vehicle
Inspection Check Points" throughout the year. Vehicles
with obvious violations are pulled into the check point.
Vehicles that are uninspected
are directed to the NJ Division of Motor Vehicles Mobile
Inspection Team (that was set up in
a near by parking lot).
The Mobile Inspection Team has the capability of conducting a full
and complete inspection of motor vehicles, including emissions.
On
December 10, 2007, the
Fair Lawn Police Department in cooperation with
the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission's "Mobile Inspection Team",
conducted a DMV checkpoint. Overall,
149 motor
vehicle summonses were issued and 32 full
inspections were conducted by the State MVC Mobile Inspection Team.
The most common violations were:
overdue inspection (19%), cracked/tinted windshield (22%), and
bald tires (8%).
More checkpoints have been scheduled for the future.
On October
15, 2007, the
Fair Lawn Police Department, in cooperation with
the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission's "Mobile Inspection Team",
conducted a DMV checkpoint. During
the checkpoint, 142 motor
vehicle summonses were issued and 37 full
inspections were conducted by the State MVC Mobile Inspection Team.
The most common violations were:
overdue inspection (25%), cracked/tinted windshield (20%), and
failure to maintain lamps (lights) (9%). More checkpoints have been scheduled for the future.
On
September 17, 2007, the
Fair Lawn Police Department, in cooperation with
the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission's "Mobile Inspection Team",
conducted a DMV checkpoint. During
the checkpoint, 141 motor
vehicle summonses were issued and 32 full
inspections were conducted by the State MVC Mobile Inspection Team.
The most common violations were:
overdue inspection (20%), cracked/tinted windshield (18%), and faulty lights (7%). More checkpoints have been scheduled for the future.
On July 9,
2007, the
Fair Lawn Police Department, in cooperation with
the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission's "Mobile Inspection Team",
conducted a DMV checkpoint. During
the checkpoint, 101 motor
vehicle summonses were issued. Three vehicles
were impounded and 2 arrests were made. The most common violations were:
overdue inspection (35%), cracked/tinted windshield (12%), and faulty brake light (6%). More checkpoints have been scheduled for the future.
On June 11, 2007, the
Fair Lawn Police Department, in cooperation with
the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission's "Mobile Inspection Team",
conducted a DMV checkpoint. During
the checkpoint, 112 motor
vehicle summonses were issued. Two vehicles
were impounded and 2 arrests were made. The most common violations were:
overdue inspection (44%), cracked/tinted windshield (16%),
and faulty brake light (7%). More checkpoints have been scheduled for the future.
On May 5, 2007, the
Fair Lawn Police Department, in cooperation with
the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission's "Mobile Inspection Team",
conducted a DMV checkpoint. During
the checkpoint, 80 motor
vehicle summonses were issued. Two vehicles
were impounded and 3 arrests were made. The most common violations were:
overdue inspection (36%), cracked/tinted windshield (12%),
failure to make repairs (12%), and
display of fictitious inspection sticker (12%).
More checkpoints have been scheduled for the future.
On
March 12, 2007, the
Fair Lawn Police Department, in cooperation with
the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission's "Mobile Inspection Team",
conducted a DMV checkpoint. During
the checkpoint, , 110 motor
vehicle summonses were issued. Two vehicles
were impounded and an arrest was made. The most common violations were:
overdue inspection (28%), cracked/tinted windshield (12%), no seatbelt/child restraint (8%), and
improper display/fictitious plates (7%).
More checkpoints have been scheduled for the future.
